Thanks, Niener! She speaks Spanish, and I think no/very little English... so yes, one of the staff people will be translating our letters for each other. She lives with her mom, dad, and two sisters, age 10 and 1. I can't wait to hear about her life. I used to sponsor other kids, when I was in college, and an 8-year-old in Indonesia told me about the cinnamon tree in her yard and her dreams at night, and draw me pictures of strange plants.

      • This (golfing) was a really bad idea. I don't know what I'm doing and getting frustrated. And we are playing with 2 other people so pressures on. I don't even know all the stupid rules. Why did we waste $30 we don't really have on this?

Oh bummer. I thought it was just going to be you two, making it a forsome really takes the romance/fun out of the day. Sorry

              • It's getting a little better but J is pissy because he hasn't played in awhile and the course is crowded. I hate it when fun things backfire.

Argh and the buy one get one free coupon for Texas de Brazil isn't valid Saturdays, so we have to pay full price.

                • Today, the kids and I actually had a good day sans DH, he's on call. We went to a Pumpkinpalooza and then out to lunch this morning following by great naps and a very fun block party this evening. I met a LOT of the neighbors I had not met, it would have been better if DH was there but we had a good time.

                  • Golf turned out to be fun. And we saw the two groups behind us get in a fist fight. Over golf. Police were called.

Wow! That's definitely not course kosher.

                        • It cracks me up how seriously some people take golf sometimes. Glad you ended up having fun, its a fun sport unless you take it to seriously.

                          • Today was sorta a rough day. Our oldest dog is sick and we didn't sleep well. I made comfort food. Beans and Cornbread

Oops, just saw this. It went great. The boys greeted him at the door shouting "happy birthday" and was definitely surprised. Even better, my BFF of 20+ years and her family surprised him with a birthday dinner and cake on his actual birthday since he unexpectedly ended up at her house that night. Her daughter even made him a birthday card. She's so super-awesome. He adored her before but now she's his BFF too.

And, Heidi, the ribs were good. Definitely a departure from my usual menu but DrK seemed to enjoy them. However, I think my slow cooker is not cooking as slowly as it should. I had it set on low but they were done after about 4 hours. If I'd left it longer, they would have turned to mush.
