I would give it a try. 18 months ago DH, myself and our DS all got pertussis. HORRIBLE. DH also developed pericarditis and somehow it affected his eyes and he's been unable to wear contacts since. We keep getting outbreaks around here. :-/

    • Today many schools are closed for "extreme weather." I was looking forward to spending most of the day at home. No go, school's open. I keep telling myself I need the money, I need the money, I need the money...

Add my hubby to the list of people who had a reaction to the vaccine as a baby but no problems with the booster recently.

        • Today...

If anyone is curious, the pertussis vaccine given back then was the whole-cell pertussis as it contained whole, dead bacterial cells. In 1996, the whole cell vaccine was replaced with the acellular pertussis vaccine, which also offers immunity, but does not contain whole cells. Evolution of vaccine development and protein purification techniques. The acellular vaccine has had fewer reactions and complications I believe, I'd have to confirm when I'm not on my phone.

I decided to run the risk that acellular pertussis vaccine won't affect me even if whole cell vaccine did those many years ago.
Great minds. So far, my n=1 says there are fewer reactions!

              • Good to know! I'll drag the dude with me, since getting a shot means me passing out/needing a designated driver. If only he wasn't on Q2 call...

I'm kind of convinced that we really are long-lost sisters...

                  • Today our house went up for sale!! Any spare iMSN house mojo you guys could muster (I know there's a few of us with property on the market right now) I would really appreciate. We tried selling 3 years ago and didn't get one real bite. We really need better luck this time around!

                        • Today is DO match day. Our friend was trying to match ENT In our town. Dh told me he wasn't a strong enough candidate. I haven't heard from him so I am guessing no. I want to text but don't want to bug. Poor guy! Medicine is not fair!

                          • It's very hard for DOs to match in ENT. There are some, but it's unusual.

                              • Today, I'm so tired that my eyes are crossing. Lambie has literally been nursing every hour for the last 24 hours. I guess this means she will start filling out soon. She's so skinny that her skin ripples and hangs off her arms, legs, and back. Book club is tonight and I'd love a chance to do something that is not for the kids. My friends are bending backwards trying to find a way to get me there (still prohibited from driving) but I think I may be too exhausted to do it.
